How Did the Patient Hear About Glengariff? Physician at the hospital

Details of experience:

Betty had an accident where she fell and broke her left hip. Her doctor said she needed surgery or her hip would sustain severe impairment in damage and walking ability. After surgery, she was left with a metal rod in her left hip. Before this accident, Betty was using a walker, but after this incident, she had decreased strength, endurance, balance, and mobility. Betty also required rehabilitation to regain her strength and chose to come to Glengariff for her rehabilitation care.

When Betty arrived at Glengariff, she was greeted by the nurses and concierge team. At the time of her physical therapy evaluation, she was unable to walk and experienced unsteadiness on her feet. She needed maximum assistance with all necessary movements, including using the bathroom, getting dressed, and bathing. She was at high risk for falls and could only walk 10 steps with maximum assistance.

With the help of the therapy team, after 20 days, Betty is now able to walk 30 feet with moderate assistance using a rollator walker. She continues to get stronger every day. Along with this, Betty can also support her activities of daily living – performing minor tasks, such as putting on clothes with assistance.

Betty continues to improve and works hard to reach her goals. She will be able to return to assisted living in the near future.

We are proud of Betty’s progress thus far and wish her nothing but continued success here at Glengariff.
