Mary Sarpal

Mary comes to Glengariff with nearly 37 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. She received her first Nursing degree in India at the young age of 19. Her first job was in Breach Candy Hospital in the ICU Unit in Bombay, India. After two years working in the hospital, she was spotted by the Royal family of Qatar and was hired as a private nurse to care and travel with the royal family. She traveled the world providing care as Royal Nurse. The Royal Family helped Mary achieve her dream and helped her to immigrate to the United States of America.  When she immigrated to New York, she worked as floor nurse at Astoria General Hospital now known as Mount Sinai Hospital located in Queens, her second job was in local nursing home; this is where her love for long term care began. She dedicated her life to caring for her patients/residents. Her workplace became a “Home away from Home”. 

 

During those years, she became a wife and a mother of three children, while working through the ranks; from a floor nurse all the way to later becoming a Director of Nursing. Mary proved herself to be an excellent nurse. Simultaneously, she continued her education at Adelphi University in Garden City obtaining a Master of Science degree in 2008.  Her love for patient care did not faulter, however she wanted to do more for her patients on a larger scale. She continued her education and later on received her Long-Term Administrator license in 2012.  She has worked in both small to large facilities in New York.  Mary is well known in the Healthcare Industry. She is known to be  strong ,honest, fair, compassionate and an exceptional leader.
