How Did the Patient Hear About Glengariff? From St. Francis

Details of experience:
Norman Green was transported to St. Francis Hospital for emergency surgery, where the team inserted a port and prepared the patient for hemodialysis. When Mr. Green readied for discharge, his Surgeon suggested the patient would benefit from rehabilitation. After careful review and speaking with his Social Worker, Mr. Green determined that Glengariff Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center would be his destination, and he arrived at Glengariff on November 15th.

Before discharge from St. Francis, Mr. Green’s physician spoke frankly with the patient and his family and informed them that should Mr. Green choose not to move forward with hemodialysis, his life expectancy would be about 30 days. In addition to excellent therapy, Glengariff has an onsite hemodialysis unit, making it an excellent fit for the patient’s needs.

When he arrived at our community, the Admission Team and his personal Concierge, Shua Greenwald, met with the patient to ensure his comfort and responded to all questions. Upon arrival, the patient required assistance to walk even 30 feet. Mr. Green  didn’t have the strength to get up and lacked belief in his ability to succeed.

After spending several weeks in rehab, the patient regained his strength and renewed his confidence to return to the life he loved. He can now walk over 100 steps with a rolling walker and climb five steps. The entire staff, including nursing, aides, physical and occupational therapies, and dialysis, helped support his needs and change his outlook on life.

He is now  getting  out  and  about. He can visit with his children and grandchildren, and  he’s a  different person. His family shared that he plans to return to work a few hours a week. These activities weren’t possible before he came to Glengariff.

The family is incredibly grateful to the Community for the staff’s extraordinary care and devotion.
